A race to sponsor soccer stars

Horseracing company Phumelela has joined forces with leading PSL outfit, Supersport United, in a three-year community soccer project. The project, which aims to unearth budding soccer talent at primary school level, launches in Alexandra township, northeast of Johannesburg, on Saturday. Phumelela's decision to initiate a primary school project followed from the company's decision to re-direct its focus from the senior Supersport United team and instead to develop future football stars through the PSL club's soccer academy.
