Graffiti girl tags top design prize

A young graffiti artist and design student from Crawford in Cape Town, 21-year-old Cara Judd, has won the recent Elle Decoration Solve 2007 competition. As well as her winning storage product being sold in selected Woolworths stores, she will also enjoy a one-month internship at the London design firm Conran & Partners under the personal mentorship of director Sebastian Conran, the competition's international judge. Judd's shelving design, called Drip, was chosen from over 160 student entries. All five finalists were women, with three of the finalists – including Judd – from the Design Time School of Interior Design in Cape Town.
