R300 fine for car window ads
This year traffic officials will be enforcing a new law prohibiting the placement of any stickers or written messages on car windows. Drivers caught with stickers or writing on their windows or windscreens could now face a fine of R300, "advertising on windows and graffiti". Traffic officials say that stickers are part of the cause of road accidents as they obstruct visibility of the road. Wayne Minnaar, Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson, says however that "disabled permits" and "permits to enter certain places" will be allowed.
