Seventeen Top Teen Achiever Awards
seventeen magazine announced the winners of the Top Teen Achiever Awards, sponsored by Standard Bank, in association with go, DStv Channel 110, at a star-studded prize giving gala dinner in Johannesburg on Thursday, 6 December. The competition identifies inspirational teen role models in South Africa and rewards them for their commitment to their chosen field.
The four remarkable girls honoured at this event were 19-year-old Amy Rosslind from Cape Town who won in the Next Big Thing category, 17-year-old Nontsikelelo Ntuli from Esikhawini who won the Miss Independent award, 16-year-old Shireen Sapiro from Johannesburg who won the Gold Medalist category, and 20-year-old Akhona Monakali who won the Do-gooder award. Lisa Davis from Johannesburg was chosen by her peers as the “Reader's Choice” award winner.
The girls scooped up great prizes including a R5000 cash prize from Standard Bank, a Hip Hop designer dress, Clinique skincare and beauty products, hair treatments and products from Carlton Hair for six months, sassy Vogue sunglasses, a stylish Motorola mobile phone, a gorgeous Girl Inc hamper, Zoom shoes as well as a year's subscription to seventeen and a photo shoot in seventeen's
Says seventeen's editor, Khwezi Magwaza, “These girls are talented, young individuals who are great ambassadors for the youth in South Africa, and their dedication and hard work are an inspiration to us all”.
