AfricaCom was launched on Wednesday, 12 July, at an informal, but intimate function held in Rosebank, Johannesburg, South Africa. The event also kicked off the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of what is, Africa's largest, influential, technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) conference and exhibition.

Saturday, 24 June 2017 saw the winners of the Sunday Times Literary Awards announced at Tiso Blackstar Group's new office venue at the Hill on Empire in Parktown, Johannesburg. Each winner received a R100,000 prize from the Sunday Times for their contribution to South African literature.
Facebook recently lifted the curtain to its brand new African office in Johannesburg. As part of its Artists in Residency programme, Facebook enlisted the help of three local artists (Cameron Platter, Hlengiwe Dube, and Lyndi Sales) in creating the office's artwork.

Friday, 12 May saw the One Club's creative week come to an end, where winners were announced at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. South African representatives received six bronze, one silver, and one gold pencil and were also crowned ‘best of discipline' for radio in addition to receiving 10 merit awards.
