Why is it so hard for a media graduate to get an INTERNSHIP?
Please can someone explain to me why it should take over 6 months for one to get a media internship. I cannot even try to comprehend what it is that I have been doing wrong. I have taken every avenue I could possibly conjure and have come up empty handed time and time again. I feel as though I should have chosen the safer option and done accounting or medicine or something along those lines. But I decided to do something I'd enjoy and look where it gets me! I'm ready to reconsider this whole media business. After approaching over 25 companies, through email and physically setting foot in offices, I am still at square one. I studied for 3 years at UCT and what do I have to show for it? My foot was in the door at KFM and it was pushed out just when I was getting accustomed. All I was offered was 2 days. And the office was nowhere near busy. Not another hopeful looking to learn a thing or two for miles and miles! But I have to hear "send us a CV". I've sent primedia about 5 copies of my CV. I've walked in and given them my CV and again..."send us your CV"! I don't know what to do. Does anybody out there have any ideas, because I am fresh out.
