Quotas on South African music
what is the logic behind having a limit on South African music played on radio and the television? Do American radio stations and TV's give South African music any airplay? Local artists celebrate when they sell 25,000 units of their music, while American musicians sell million units. With us South Africans contributing hugely in their success (anything American we worship) since we consume their product.
What is the problem with promoting our own and only playing South African music in order to grow the industry? Anyone interested in American music can access that through the retail music shops and not be given an opportunity through the broadcast platforms.
Would be interested to get an informed replied from those in authority about my pet peeve, especially from ICASA.
