Healthcare Advertising - you should be paying attention
As a highly-specialised form of advertising, why does healthcare advertising and the important role it plays in educating and influencing remain the poor cousin of mainstream advertising?
In the past year, South Africa has undergone dramatic changes in healthcare legislation. With more new legislation - that will impact on every South African's life - being introduced in May 2004, why is it that healthcare agencies and their creative efforts (you try making Gastro medication exciting!) are not recognised by their peers? Surely people who influence the opinions of medical specialists as well as healthcare providers and the likes should wield some influence in their own backyards too?
I suggest we bring back an awards category, or separate award for Healthcare Advertising.
