Radio DJs/Club DJs vs Real Musicians
True musicians have an unfair competition from radio presenters who also produce their own albums. These breed of 'musicians' have a platform to push their wares non-stop. While genuine musicians struggle to get airplay on the airwaves.
An example of my beef is DJ Sbu on Y, artists from his stable are guaranteed airplay on his show daily. Mzekezeke is a case in point.
There is an endless supply of talented musicians, who don't enjoy the same treatment while they produce quality music. Because none of their record execs have slots with radio stations, their products are ignored.
Why do radio stations allow such a trend, Metro fM has an awards where their own employees compete with musicians for the same recognition while they enjoy maximum exposure through their own radio slots.
Icasa has to intervene and add a clause within the licence conditions to put a stop to this bad practise.
