Are there magazine journalism mentors?
As an aspiring freelance magazine journalist, who has experienced moderate success I am well aware that this is an incredibly hard road, but the few dribbles of success work for me.
What I would love to know is whether there are seasoned proffessionals out there who would be willing to maybe read a a freelancer's article/story to give a critique before it passes an editors eye.
I looked up media mentors but other than going on some rather expensive courses there is no one offering this kind of service.
It may be a really nice way to supplement an income or pass on skills by semi-retired proffesionals. They could charge a fee -for a reading and a critique of the article.
Are there any experts in this field who are willing to give a few tips, advise and encouragement?
