Sam Mpherwane, Project Manager at SABC Education explains more about Wise Up!: "In the game, executive producer Johan Stemmet, brings South African children together to compete against each other and meet inspirational celebrity guests. Weekly participants are selected for the success they have made of their lives; the others are fans of the South African great. The participants play a South African general knowledge quiz against a studio audience and get the opportunity to perform like their hero and meet them in studio. In the final round participants compete against each other."
Wise Up! is a multilingual production using English, Xhosa, Afrikaans and Sotho languages. Wise Up! contributes an appreciation and understanding of learning and teaching in home languages for South African citizens. Although Wise Up! is aimed mainly at grades 4-6, the fresh, high tech nature of the show will appeal to all ages.
Scheduled for broadcast on SABC2, 20 episodes of Wise Up! will be broadcast on Tuesdays at 16h30 starting 5 April.
