Channel O pays tribute to Mama Afrika

Besides her youth, besides her courage, besides her unwavering spirit, besides hope, perhaps Miriam Makeba's greatest gift to us was her music. When we hurt, her voice healed us. When we were down, her melody made us get up and dance. When we celebrated, hers was the rhythm that accompanied our joy.

Now, that we have lost all but her legacy, it is fitting that a moment of silence be attributed to the greatest gift she ever gave the world - her music.

Recognising the immeasurable impact she had on African music, Ogilvy Johannesburg's team of copywriter Zwelakhe Tshabangu and art director Tetteh Botchway developed a mailer on behalf of their Channel O client to pay tribute to Miriam Makeba.
