Metro FM appoints new station manager

Matona Ntshona, previously Metro FM's National Portfolio Sales Manager, has been promoted to head up the station from 1 April. Ntshona is the first woman to head up the country's largest commercial radio station since its inception 20 years ago and brings with her more than eight years' experience in the sales and advertising industry.

Former Acting Station Manager Cuthbert Mashego, who headed the station since October last year, will go back to his previous position as Production Executive.

Ntshona joined SABC Radio Sales six years ago as a Metro FM Account Executive and has worked her way up to be the station's National Portfolio Sales Manager. Before then she was at various advertising agencies. Ntshona`s appointment forms part of the changes currently taking place within the station and follows the recent announcement of new DJ line up.

"This appointment gives impetus to the changes the station is implementing. I believe that Matona brings in new perspective to the station. She will lead a formidable team of radio professionals and I am sure they will work together to make Metro FM an even more powerful brand," said Randall Abrahams, General Manager of PCS Radio at SABC.

Commented Ntshona: "I have lived and breathed the Metro FM brand for the past six years. To me this is another way of making sure that the brand moves to even greater heights. It's humbling to be entrusted with such a huge task, but with the strong support base in the form of many talented staff, I will be able to do the job."
