Crewe died in hospital in Johannesburg in the early hours of this morning at the age of 75.
Crewe was known for helping train generations of EWN reporters and will be fondly remembered for his warmth and his wicked sense of humour.
Thanks to his long, successful career, Crewe was acknowledged at the 2014 MTN Radio Awards with his induction into the radio Hall of Fame.
The Primedia Broadcasting team has offered heartfelt condolences to his partner, family and loved ones.
