CDH publishes guide on labour legislation changes
According to Aadil Patel, director and national head of the Employment Practice at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, the legislature, during 2013 and at the beginning of 2014, published amendments to the Labour Relations Act, No 66 of 1995 (LRA), the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, No 75 of 1997 (BCEA) and the Employment Equity Act, No 55 of 1998 (EEA), and introduced a completely new act called the Employment Services Act. The Labour Relations Amendment Bill has been submitted to the President for assent. At the time of writing, the dates of commencement have not been published.
Patel says that by compiling a guide on the amendments to South African labour law, his Employment Practice is hoping to help businesses understand the requirements and implications of the Labour Relations Amendment Bill, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act, and the new kid on the block - the Employment Services Act.
The guide contains details of all the most important changes to labour laws, as well as important business questions and answers on issues and implications pertaining to the new laws.
