Ginja will open its doors at the V&A Waterfront on the Waterfront Pierhead, on 10 October 2016. The restaurant boasts a contemporary interior, superb views across the Waterfront Harbour, panoramic sights of Table Mountain and a food offering to go with it. Here's what to expect:
The Menu
A comprehensive and well-priced menu that will appeal to everyone has been lovingly created by executive chef, Stefan Muller. The menu includes salads, charcuterie, risottos, sandwiches, vegetarian options, wraps, pasta, seafood, and grills plus an extensive list of dishes especially for children.
Indulge your taste buds with a slow-roasted lamb and barley salad, a prawn risotto, Asian style pork wrap, a range of health smoothies, raw juices, gourmet salads, and sandwiches. Wholesome and banting-friendly options are offered as well as delectable side dishes including sweet potato fries, pumpkin and polenta fries and deep fried cauliflower.
The coffee
Ginja adds a new dimension to coffee enjoyment with the launch of Native Coffee Roasters within the restaurant. Created by Capetonian Murray Lloyd, who roasts his own carefully selected coffee beans, Native Coffee Roasters offers the quintessential experience in coffee appreciation.
Murray takes great care of his thoroughly trained baristas and endeavors to ensure quality and consistency in every cup. Apart from the 100% Arabica bean blending that gives ultimate true flavour, Native also carefully measures the coffee shots for every cup and then regularly weighs the finished product to help ensure customer satisfaction. Murray believes that if one is passionate about coffee this will go a long way in helping to produce a fine cup.
You can also purchase Native coffee beans for your home brewing. The coffee bar at Ginja will also serve a small artisanal takeaway food menu.
The décor
Interior Designer, Francois Du Plessis and architects, Peerutin, have created a fabulous new restaurant space for Ginja. Using organic textures in wood, stone, and textiles in muted natural colours, the décor is enhanced by accents of metal and clever, ambient lighting. The palette is easy on the eye, welcoming and utterly contemporary. A mix of long shared tables and smaller tables compliment the relaxed feel of this broadly appealing new restaurant.
The entertainment
Presented by Waterkloof Wines and for the second year running, SA’s iconic and hugely popular band, Watershed will perform on Sunday, 30 October 2016 at Ginja. A generous picnic lunch that includes, for example, sundried tomato and basil tarts, Parma ham, gemsbok biltong pate, chocolate brownies, homemade fudge and much more will be served together with a glass of a Waterkloof wine. Booking is essential.
Ginja is part of Newmark Hotels, Reserves & Lodges.
