Point to sponsor MAD in 2013
Point has announced that it will once again be contributing to youth development and education in South Africa through a corporate sponsorship in the MAD (Make a Difference) award for the Top Student in Gauteng, as it did in 2012.
The support assists promising learners with their secondary and tertiary education providing the cost of tuition, books and accommodation.
Gary Davies, CEO of Point says, "Investing in education is a very important contribution to South Africa, as it greatly influences social development, employment, poverty alleviation and most importantly, paves a way for the future leaders of the country. MAD believes in educating tomorrow's leaders and this is something very close to my heart. I believe that if we focus on this type of youth development, we are helping evolve a brighter future for all South Africans, as society will reap the benefits of committed, productive and aspiring individuals."
Supporting education
MAD was founded in 2003 by Francois Pienaar and a group of friends who believe in the future of the country and the potential it holds.
With this in mind, the organisation's primary goal is to identify academically talented South African learners from less fortunate backgrounds and support their education and life skills development up to the point where they are ready to enter the job market.
Secondary to that, it also supports a number of Broad-based Education Programmes that promote literacy and environmental awareness in young learners throughout South Africa. To date, it has supported in excess of 2000 youngsters on the MAD Education Programmes.
