Record trade highs are being reported at Mpumalanga's Middelburg Mall, with its shopper numbers growing by an unprecedented 32% over the past year. All signs point to the regional shopping centre achieving record high sales figures this festive season.
Record high Xmas predictions for Middelburg Mall

Middelburg Mall's GM, Mike Tammadge, reported: "We are delighted at the positive trading accomplished throughout the mall over the past year. By always striving to give our customers a better, more complete shopping experience in a pristine, safe setting that caters for the entire family, we are performing excellently."

He explained that every December since opening, Middelburg Mall has achieved record turnover highs. Now, headed into its fourth festive season, the regional mall is in a confident position to continue this trend.

Supporting its festive trade, Middelburg Mall will dress up in traditional Christmas décor and offer a comprehensive holiday entertainment programme. "Our shoppers and retailers are in for a real treat," said Tammadge.

October marked one year after Middelburg Mall's second phase opened in October 2014, extending the mall by 12,000m² to 56,000m². Besides being an instant success the expansion has continued to boost trade throughout the shopping centre as a whole.

Significant expansion

The significant expansion by Middelburg Mall joint owners Flanagan & Gerard Property Development & Investment, and the Moolman Group, added anchor retailers Spar, Cotton On and Dis-Chem to its original anchors Checkers, Woolworths, Edgars, Pick 'n Pay and Game. It also introduced national retailers Ackermans and Mr Price Sport to the centre, as well as a generous serving of restaurant and fast food outlets including John Dory's and Chicken Licken. Burger King Restaurant and Drive In also launched at Middelburg Mall in April this year.

Since then, the mall has polished its retail selection even further, adding another wave of retailers that enhance its shopping mix. These include kid's clothing brands Earth Child, Soda Bloc and Keedo. Sorbet, Final Touches Gifts, Green Cross and Edgars Connect also recently joined the mall, while Pep and Mr Price Home both increased their store sizes.

Middelburg Mall now boasts more than 130 retail stores, restaurants and service outlets, offering a top-notch and diverse shopping experience.

Right now, retail categories showing the strongest performance at the mall include jewellery, bottle stores, pharmacies and fast food.

Middelburg Mall can be found just off the the N4 highway and is easily accessible from the Samora Machel Avenue (formally Fontein Street) off-ramp and Mandela Drive (formally Tswelopele Street) intersection.
