Night Nation Run in Cape Town
Billed as a 5km ‘musical voyage’ the Night Nation Run (NNR) is filled with live music, multiple stages, light and laser shows.
Participants run, walk, skip, or dance their way along the route, to the accompanying sounds of high-energy Electronic Dance Music (EDM). You don’t have to be a fan of either running or EDM, to enjoy that this electrifying combination appealing to all ages, fitness levels and music tastes, and anyone with even only half a heartbeat, is truly a celebration of life.
Supporting The Pink Drive
Like all NNR’s around the world, the Cape Town run will support a charitable cause, in this case, The Pink Drive. Capetonians and business partners, Alison Dixon and, Gwynneth Matthews, who have brought the race to Africa are both hugely encouraging of the race owner’s requirement for supporting a local outreach project saying: “We were in New York recently and were amazed as we watched husbands, fathers, brothers, mothers, daughters, and friends run for themselves and each other and for people they didn’t even know. This race goes beyond just having a crazy good time on the night, as it unites people from all walks of life and also raises money that goes straight back into fighting cancer. We aim to do the same with all our NNR events here in Africa.”
This will be the first staging of the NNR on the continent and Alison and Gwynneth expect the usual anthem of “I run for the after party” to be replicated in Cape Town.
Starting out at the Grand Parade where the pre-party will get neon-clad participants ready for the fun ahead, runners will then make their way through an illuminated racecourse stopping to experience three other stages. The after party – back at the start – will be an exhilarating main stage experience with EDM DJs, ending at 23.45.
