Jack Parow 's "Eksie Ou", track by track

Packed with colabs from the likes of David Kramer, Pierre Greeff, Francois van Coke and PH Fat, one wouldn't be wrong in expecting Jack Parow's second album to have a fairly diverse sound. However, as diverse as the 12 tracks on this album are, each one is still unquestionably and uber recognisably Jack moeder fokken Parow.

Eksie Ou: Title and first track Eksie Ou is the 2011/12 equivalent to Jack Parow's Cooler as Ekke, the tongue-in-cheeky song that catapulted him into zef stardom two years ago. Smack talking hipster hangouts and habits; Kauai, Country road, &Union and We-are-awesome, Eksie Ou is Jack Parow 101.

Hosh Tokolosh: God damn, this track, featuring Afro pop prince Gazelle, is as catchy as all hell, it's "fang a lang a lang" hook sticking in your head for days. Days and days, I tell you - it never leaves. A club booty shaker for sure.

Jack Parow & Gazelle - Hosh Tokolosh by OnTheRadio

Laat Ons Suip: A Boeremusiek mash up for the debaucherous generation.

Afrikaans Is Dood: A hard-pounding track, proclaiming Afrikaans is dood ... Afrikaans is groot, mirroring the post-apartheid death and rise and rise of Afrikaans-culture coolness.

Welkom Terug: A gentle tumble of lyrics by Zander, very style reminiscent of his involvement with Bittereinder in a Tale of Three Cities, it's beautifully complemented by Pierre Greeff's chorus.

Biscuits & Biltong: Um yeah, I'm too much of an Engelse meisie to enjoy this sokkie-inspired treffer featuring David Kramer.

Katerien: A funny little psychedelic retro liedjie.

Hard Parytjie Hou: I love the combo of Zander's whiney creaky door hinge voice and Francois' guttural gruff one. This track featuring Mnr Van Coke is no exception.

Bons: Haezer 's dirty trash electro influence is unmistakable on this one. Another dance-floor killer, bons indeed.

Spring Moederfokker: There definitely seems to be a determined direction steer to the dance floor on this album. Spring Moederfokker, another dance tune, featuring PH Fat, I think might just be my favourite. An interesting mix of tempos and lyrics.

Move Like A Monster: A howling-at-the-moon Awhoo-type track featuring Sibot, not really feeling this one.

Last Laugh: Is a mini-tale about how Parow came to be. From geek to superstar.

So there you go, "Eksie Ou" is a must have in any self-respecting SA music lover's collection.
