‘Thou art a fusty nut with no kernel'

Has anyone ever told you “Your bum is the greatest thing about you; so that in the beastliest sense, you are Pompey the Great”? How about “Thou art a fusty nut with no kernel” or “Thou art a disease that must be cut away”? Publishers, their associated teams, freelance writers and journalists were all insulted over the course of a few days as a reminder for the 2007 PICA Awards.

“In keeping with the general spirit of award ceremonies, the tease involved a series of criticisms in Shakespearian tongue. The response from the magazine industry was brilliant, and it was a humorous way to remind them of the nearing PICA Awards,” says Desire du Plessis, PICA Awards committee chair.
