To honour its top performers, Standard Bank chose a Grammy Awards theme, and guests certainly felt they were at the Grammys. From the moment they set foot on the red carpet, were stopped to be interviewed by celebrity MC Krijay Govender or saw their images on the plasma screens lining the walls of the elegant cocktail lounge, they knew the show was all about them.
The evening started with cocktails and sumptuous finger foods, which guests enjoyed in an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement, before fog and the dramatic sounds of space music flooded the room, curtains were flung open to reveal a stage, and the awards ceremony started.
After the top 14 Blue Stars Winners had been awarded, local star Danny K took the stage for a brief, powerful performance, before turning the platform over to the mesmerising Mandoza. Following that performance, the top three Blue Stars winners were honoured and awarded, and the ceremony concluded with first a solo performance by Mandoza, then a riveting performance together with Danny K.
