LG claims to have the world's slimmest monitor available for consumers, the E2290 - meaning that somewhere out there, there are thinner screens which are not for sale to consumers - a sign of where technology is going.
The truth is, size does matter, especially in the gadgets world where portability and weight are king.
The trick is gaining and dropping sizes in the right place. As computer monitors and TV screens shed weight and size on their backsides, they lose mass, their screens get thinner, sharper and broader.
LG claims to have the world's slimmest monitor available for consumers, the E2290 - meaning that somewhere out there, there are thinner screens which are not for sale to consumers - a sign of where technology is going.
The LG E2290 looks like a super-model monitor; it's dazzling and extremely thin, with a depth of 7.2mm.
Though most people use independent monitors for their computers, the 21.5 inch E2290 is great for watching videos.
It can be connected to multiple external devices such as laptops, TVs, or your cellphone using D-Sub, DVI-D, and HDMI. It shows 16:9, 1920 x 1080 HD videos with adjustable brightness and various adjustable viewing angles, which come in handy when you switch from watching videos to working on documents.
The polished silver monitor has a spine that tilts to a comfortable angle and connects it to the base, which has backlit touch-sensitive multimedia and on/off controls.
The E2290 looks great, and though 21.5 inches is small compared with current TVs, it is portable and can easily be carried to the office and back when necessary.
