Thai Trade Distribution Centre will open in Cape Town
At the opening ceremony of the Thailand Trade Show 2011, His Excellency Tharit Charungvat, the Ambassador of Thailand to South Africa, announced the opening of a centre focused on fostering trade between South Africa and Thailand, to be named the Thai Trade Distribution Centre (TTDC). It will be established in the latter part of this year in Observatory, Cape Town.
"The TTDC will be founded as a joint venture with Cape Thai Holdings Group, leveraging the organisation's effective and established infrastructure to improve bilateral trade between the two countries. This will be done by providing a platform for Thai companies of all sizes to showcase their products and services and also allowing for local businesses to engage in partnerships for distribution in South Africa," he said.
"With South Africa being viewed as the 'gateway' to the rest of Africa, in particular the Sub-Saharan region, we believe that the new centre will provide the support needed by businesses - both local and Thai - wishing to explore joint opportunities."
At the Thailand Trade Show business matchmaking breakfast, 34 Thai companies from industries including automotive, food, garments and textiles, health and beauty, handmade paper products, polychloroprene and polyurethane offerings met with over a hundred local participants, creating in excess of 200 cross industry matches.
"We believe that both the successful annual Thailand Trade Show, this year with more than 3200 visitors, and the new Thai Trade Distribution Centre will be invaluable in taking these relationships from strength to strength into the future," he concludes.
