PR & Communications News South Africa

What is in a name?

A lot actually, when your company brand is similar to that of a company bandied about in the news in connection with a high profile criminal case. Mixael de Kock, CE of The Maverick Group, wishes to make it clear that this grouping of communication-related companies has no connection whatsoever to the Maverick Companies being mentioned in the current Agliotti/Selebi controversy.

The recipient of the 2005 IPRA Gold World Award for Public Relations Excellence, De Kock was recently elected national president and chairman of the board of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA).

De Kock established The Maverick Group in 1998, primarily as a specialist consultancy to develop integrated corporate communication strategies.

The Maverick Group comprises an alliance of companies active in the field of communication management and concentrates its efforts on providing a differentiated, one-stop communication service to some of South Africa's top companies and corporations.

The focus is on the integration of corporate communication functions and strategies, which also includes the facilitation of integrated communication strategy workshops. The service extends also to creative input on tactical implementation planning, as well as consultation to advertising and PR agencies both locally and abroad.
