'Drive it to Win It' offers 12 Ford Figos as prizes
Lesley McDonough, Engen's group brand manager, says the racing-themed game show will be aired in 3-minute weekly slots just before Rhythm City - e.tv's most popular soapie.
The game has two racers battling it out in-studio on consoles featuring pedal-and-wheel simulators and screens. Contestants will go up against each other and the clock, steering their digital Ford Figos side by side around the same racetrack.
"But there's a twist," says McDonough. "As the players negotiate their way around the course there will be both in-game and in-studio obstacles for them to overcome."
Contestants will have to keep their nerve as road cones, wet weather and trees come at them, either as adult-proof foam sponge objects thrown at them by in-studio characters Road Ninja and Weather Girl, or as classic pixelated in-game hazards.
The competition follows on from a similar one in 2008 and will run from 29 October this year until 21 January 2013. It will be preceded by 30-second TV ads calling for entrants throughout the campaign, starting three weeks ahead of the first show.
