The programme is scheduled to commence in the second week of January, 2006, and is intended to be a forerunner to the introduction of regular courses in Sales, Distribution and Marketing, which will be offered by FRU in the second half of 2006.
Film Resource Unit is offering places on the course to aspiring film distributor's and TV sales agents who hold the minimum qualification of a degree in film studies from an accredited local film training institution.
There are 10 positions open to learners from Johannesburg and five places available to learners from Pretoria. Five positions are also open to learners from other provinces.
This is an intensive, one week, full time, accelerated programme. Topics covered will include the history of African film, an overview of film distribution in South Africa, basic distributors tools, theatrical release strategies and case studies of recent releases, TV Sales, funding and finance, festivals and New Media.
Potential candidates are requested to send their CV's and a short motivation for why they think they should be selected for the course to: by no later than December 1. 2005.
