The grapes used for this classic, well-balanced white, stem from two different vineyards on this renowned Helderberg wine farm, with the one fuelled by alluvial, sandy soils and the other flourishing in mineral rich, red decomposed granite soils. The wine was allowed to mature in French oak barrels for seven months, before it was blended and bottled.
“Our Chardonnay 2008 is a sublime testimony that opposites do attract. The flawless integration of each site's unique origin, character and quality is what makes this wine a sure thing,” says Eikendal cellarmaster Henry Kotzé.
“A long creamy finish adds elegance to this complex wine, packed with fresh lemony and vanilla flavours, meshed with background toastiness,” he adds.
The wine can be enjoyed straight away or tucked away in the cellar for another five years to reach its full potential.
The wine is available from R70 per bottle, directly from the cellar or at selected fine wine outlets and restaurants countrywide.
