SA website wins gold at US awards
Cape Town website design company, Ukubona, have brought home one of the most respected awards in the international website industry - a gold Horizon Interactive award.
International designers gathered in Indianapolis this month to celebrate the best designs of 2005, with only two gold awards presented in the Flash websites category - one of them for London fashion designer Ashley Isham's website designed by Ukubona, in association with South African photographer and designer Marc Hoberman.
Isham, fashion designer to the stars, approached Hoberman, who joined up with Ukubona to create the winning site, which has already received a gold Loerie for its cutting edge design.
Ukubona's managing director Mark Magielse says: "We were up against some very well established design firms, but in the end the skills of our team were recognised and it's a great step forward for the acknowledgment of the South African web design industry."
