Says Nikki Cockcroft, chairperson of the Bookmarks awards and deputy-chair of the DMMA, "This year, we have taken great care to choose pioneers in South Africa's digital industry who have the experience and insight needed to evaluate the technical and creative performance of the agencies and teams nominated for the awards."

The 2010 awards include a far wider range of Team and Individual categories than earlier years, with awards in 43 categories, compared to just 15 in 2009. Nearly half of the awards are dedicated to agencies.

The judges for the agency awards categories are:

  • Jack Kruger, head of digital, Old Mutual. Kruger - who is also the jury chair - has spent the past 14 years launching start-up projects and directing digital ventures for multinational corporates.
  • Chris Colborn, chief experience officer, R/GA. Colborn has 20 years of design experience across multiple channels, working for the likes of R/GA, Byron Preiss Multimedia Company and Science Application International Corporation.
  • Matt Ross, ECD, Tribal DDB. Ross has created multiple gold award-winning creative campaigns for numerous clients including Nike, Volkswagen, Playstation and Coca-Cola.
  • Anton Moulder, creative director at Urbian, has worked digital projects locally and internationally for brands such as Coca-Cola, Guinness, Captain Morgan, HSBC, Motorola, Bostik and Capitec Bank.
  • Evan Milton, strategy director, Stonewall+ (Native). Milton earned a Loerie for "New Media" in 1998 (the first year the category existed) and was a decade later voted as one of the ITWeb 2008 "Who's Who in the Web 2.0 Zoo".
  • Dylan Jones, creative director at Urbian Futurestate, is a multiple award-winning Cape Town-based designer and illustrator.
  • Scott Gray, client strategy director at Quirk eMarketing. Gray has extensive experience in the digital world on the agency side with Quirk, and with BMW SA, where he was head of digital.

The panel of judges for the publisher awards will also be announced soon.
