Driving out in style

New Media's latest issue of Drive Out, the 4x4 lifestyle magazine published three times a year, is also starting to attract a wider scope of motor and outdoor enthusiasts.

"Although Drive Out's primary focus remains on giving the best possible information on off-road trails and destinations, readers also want to know how to get there, what to pack, how not to get stuck and what other destinations can be explored besides 4x4 trails," says editor Andrew Nunneley.

Initially published solely as a trail guide, Drive Out has evolved over the past five years into a 176-page outdoor lifestyle publication and features in the latest issue include; the top five game and nature reserves in six popular categories across South Africa; the establishment of trans-border 'Peace Parks'; advice on how readers can assist in the fight against poaching; a sneak peek into Zambia; how to make bush burgers in 'Camp Cooking' and the latest 4x4 travel accessories and must-have outdoor accessories.

Drive Out publisher Naomi Herselman says that while the magazine is definitely attracting many non-4x4 readers, there is no doubt that 4x4 ownership is still on the increase. "There are 128 000 more 4x4 owners now in South Africa than five years ago and this remains a key attraction for advertisers.

In addition, the new design and layout of this 8th issue, incorporates an easy reference section listing over 350 trails throughout South Africa, categorised by region, as well as a unique foldout map highlighting parks that have 4x4 or eco-trails.
