SAHRC public forum details

The South African Human Rights Commission is holding a public forum on Wednesday, 5 March 2008, in Parktown, Johannesburg, to address the phenomena and need for exclusive organisations in South Africa; the membership of such organisations; and access to the activities of such organisations.

On Friday 29 February, the commission received a complaint from Katy Katapodis, 702 Talk Radio news editor, regarding the exclusion of white journalists from a meeting between the Forum of Black Journalists and ANC president Jacob Zuma.

Since there has been considerable debate on the issue, it is clear that many institutions, agencies and individuals, have an interest in this matter.

The event will take place 9am at Human Rights House, corner St Andrews and York Streets, Parktown in Johannesburg. Early reservation/notification of attendance is urged.

For more information, contact Vincent Moaga, tel +27 (0)11 484 8300 ext 2207 or email .
