Khoza must apologise publically – HRC

NEWSWATCH: The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) yesterday, Tuesday, 19 February 2008, called on Irvin Khoza, chairperson of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC), to apologise publically for his derogatory comment concerning a journalist, which Khoza says he has already apologised for, reports SABCnews.com.

Simphiwe Mthembu, publicity and events manager for SABC1 has denied that he has been fired, despite the fact that his post is being advertised in the SABC's in-house publication Intercom, according to the Sowetan. SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago was not able to comment on the situation.

After Talk Radio 702's host Redi Direko read Monday's Sowetan article on the humiliation of Nwabisi Ngcukana by taxi drivers and hawkers and then cried openly on air as she recounted her own experiences of sexual harassment, she was “inundated with phone calls and emails afterwards”, writes IOL.
