Carrim in titanic turnaround

NEWSWATCH: Communications Minister Yunus Carrim says the "communications ship has been righted," reports BD Live, and DStv Mobile has made some changes, reports MyBroadband.
Tragically, the original Titanic sank with heavy loss of life, but the crew was professional. Our very own Titanic, however, is unfortunately captained by an individual who doesn't even have a Master's Certificate, but at least the ship's owner seems to have a firm grip on things and may manage to turn the ship around, preferably before it goes too far on its 'sunshine cruise'. • BD Live: Communications ship has been righted, says Carrim... We said right at the beginning of Carrim's tenure in SABC in Carrim's sights: "Dina Pule will be a very easy act to follow, but having said that, Yunus Carrim has, thus far, done pretty well in the various positions he has held. So...

Here's hoping that he will be far more effective in the position than his predecessor was; it's very likely a hope that we can accept as a given... given, in the view of many, Pule's underwhelming performance as communications minister."

Certainly, that leaky ship of state, the SABC, seems to have been out of the news for a while - it has been a frequent subject of debate, for all the wrong reasons, so here's hoping that that organisation, along with the Department of Communications, will continue to become more effective under Carrim's control.

But don't give up hope yet that the SABC, our "sunshine news" broadcaster, will pull something out of the hat and once more be back in the news... for all the wrong reasons; it's the one thing at which the organisation has been pretty adept in the past.

  • MyBroadband: DStv Mobile channels added... DStv has announced that KykNET has been added to its offering, while on its bouquet, Mzansi Magic is to replace Africa Magic Movies.
