Choc-HO HO HO-late for the silly season

Very few things are more synonymous with Christmas and the holidays, than chocolate. Chocolate has become such a pivotal part of every celebration and we love it! In a designer’s career, there is probably at least one once-in-a-lifetime dream brief. This has certainly been one of them for us.

The Just Design Jhb team was tasked with coming up with a look and feel for Cadbury SA’s limited edition range. Usually the global Cadbury designs find their way onto South African shelves, but this year we got to design something unique for our market. South Africans certainly don’t experience white Christmases, so we were forced to subvert the traditional Christmas imagery in a distinctive way. Move over cheesy Christmas sweater designs – we bring you beaded wrappers and Zulu love letters!

We built on the style of Cadbury on-pack intrinsics, and created ‘characters’ for each variant – made out of the ingredients found in the respective products – and enhanced the overall feel of the packs by working with the metalised foil.

Festive Whisper and Frosty Glee (crammed full of biscuit pieces or jellies and Astros) will take your senses straight to Santa and wrapped gifts, while Whispers Snowball will have everyone flocking to a chocoholics-anonymous meeting.
