The international judge is one of the Netherlands' top creatives, Edward Bardoul, senior copywriter from the agency Euro RSCG BLRS, who has been awarded two 'Lampen (gold and silver) from the Art Directors Club Netherlands, three world awards from the New York Festival (gold, silver and bronze), an Epic Premier Prix and a bronze Loekie (a Netherlands consumer award).
Bardoul, who trained at the Academy of Arts in Rotterdam, has been employed by several well-known agencies as copywriter and /or art director and worked for clients such as Cadburys, Delta Lloyd, Phillips, Nissan, Grolsch and Citroën.
Apart from Pendoring's regular categories, entries for the new 'Homegrown' category for indigenous South African languages, organised with CAFE, will be viewed with interest.
The complete panel, apart from Bardoul, is: Hanlie Kriel, copywriter FCB Cape Town; Peet Pienaar creative director, Daddy buy me a Pony; Flip Hattingh, art director Net#work BBDO; Eben Keun, art director, Breinstorm Brand Architects; Kagiso Musi, client director, Publicist; Hanneke Schutte, Vega Brand Communications School; Madelet du Plessis, freelance copywriter; Wilma de Bruin, freelance media and advertising journalist; and Jabulile Koapa, copywriter, Joe Public Johannesburg.
Specialist judges: Marius Bakkes, director/producer The Full Picture (TV); John Culverwell, director Sonovision (Radio); Roelof van Wyk, director Trigger (New Media); and Willem Kempen, assistant-editor: Production, Beeld (print media).
Judging takes place from 22 - 24 July and the finalists will be announced early in August. This year's award ceremony will be held at VodaWorld on 2 September 2005.
