Cannes results - Cyber, Direct and Film
TV and Film
The Grand Prix prize was awarded on Saturday night to American agency Wieden & Kennedy for a Nike ad called "Tag". Four South African agencies, with eleven entries among them, made it to the 400-strong shortlist.
Only TBWA Hunt Lascaris Johannesburg was able to win a medal - a bronze for the "Umpire" ad done for Nashua Mobile. Featuring Anna Kournikova, the ad promoted Nashua's sponsorship of tennis.

- Net#Work BBDO Johannesburg for Isuzu "Operation Rachel" in the vehicles, auto products and services category, produced by Egg Films in Johannesburg.
- Net#Work BBDO Johannesburg for Cell C "Broken telephone" in the commercial public services category, produced by Velocity Afrika in Johannesburg.
- Net#Work BBDO Johannesburg for Cell C "Check Out" in the commercial public services category, produced by Frieze Films in Johannesburg.
- Saatchi & Saatchi Cape Town for Guinness "poem" in the alcoholic beverages category, produced by Peter Gird Productions.
- Saatchi & Saatchi Johannesburg "day night" in the household category for Osram, produced by Black Coffee Productions Johannesburg.
Cyber Lions
The Cyber Lions were awarded on Friday night. There were no South African medallists, with only Jupiter Drawing Room Johannesburg making it to the shortlist of 220. Sole SA Jury member Arthur Goldstuck, MD of World Wide Worx in Johannesburg, had this to say: "South African ad agencies need to wake up to the fact that the dot.com bust does not give them the right to abdicate their role in the interactive environment."

Lions Direct
On Friday evening Net#work BBDO Johannesburg was awarded a Gold Lion in the inaugural Lions Direct Awards for their "certificate" direct marketing campaign for Virgin Atlantic. Mignon Botes of Tequila, Johannesburg, was on the Jury.
Shortlist:
- Berry Bush BBDO Cape Town for client Sanlam in the financial services category.
- Net#work BBDO Johannesburg for client Virgin Atlantic in the consumer services category.
Special Awards
Cannes Lions Agency of the Year - Based on the number of prizes gained during the Festival.
