ASA calls for ad code changes

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is calling on industry to submit any proposals for changes to the Code of Advertising Practice to its relevant industry body by 26 February 2010.

While ASA co-ordinates the code revision process, the industry is responsible for ensuring that the rules are relevant, up-to-date and in line with international best practice. Industry bodies must first evaluate and agree on proposals received from their specific industry sectors. Clear, motivated proposals, together with a draft proposed clause, should be submitted to ASA by the deadline date.

Senior marketers, advertising agencies and media representatives appointed by the industry to serve on the Code Revision Committee will consider proposed changes. Their recommendations will be circulated to all industry bodies. The voting members appointed by industry bodies will make final decisions at ASA's AGM.
