SABC claim doesn't add up

NEWSWATCH: The SABC claimed recently that it had moved a contract for four outside broadcast units from the preferred bidder to the third-rated one in order to save R66 million. Wrong! The units will have ended up costing R19 million more (R443.8 million as against R424.7 million) reports IOL.

  • IOL: SABC's cheaper tender cost R19m more… The cash-strapped national broadcaster has apparently had some trouble in getting its sums right and by the end of 2010 will have spent more than it would otherwise have had to after switching from the preferred bidder for four OB units.
