Ad Agency of the Year Awards 2004

The year's first Ad Agency of the Year awards will be made on Thursday, April 1, at a function in Johannesburg when the second edition of Tony Koenderman's AdReview is launched.

There are agency awards in each of three size categories, based on the employment level of the agency concerned. Since international agencies no longer disclose financial results, it is not realistic to define the categories by turnover or revenue.

Among the awards to be presented are:
Ad Agency of the Year: for the agency that shows the best combination of business and creative achievement. Factors considered include new business won, creative awards, Apex effectiveness awards, and the ability to produce likeable advertising.
The Big Idea Award, for the best translation of an idea into a multifaceted marketing campaign.

Media Agency of the Year: based on ratings given by media owners, combined with business achievement.

Advertising Personality of the Year: for individual achievement by a person in the advertising and marketing arena.

Marketing Services Company of the Year: for a below-the-line agency, be it a specialist in direct marketing, sponsorship, design or any other specialist discipline.

Broadcast Marketer of the Year is a new award for the most effective marketing of itself by a radio or television broadcaster.

Newcomer of the Year: an award for a newly formed ad agency, and the choice is likely to raise a few eyebrows.

Campaign of the Year: for the best campaign, which may be limited to a single medium.
