2008 Clio Awards Technique jury chair named

NEW YORK: Noted director Dante Ariola of MJZ, Los Angeles will serve as executive chairman of the 2008 Technique jury, announced the 49th annual Clio Awards yesterday, Tuesday, 12 February 2008.

He joins the following industry creative leaders as 2008 Clio Awards executive jury chairs: Content & Contact – Johnny Vulkan, partner, Anomaly, New York; TV/Cinema/Digital – Tony Granger, chief creative officer, Saatchi & Saatchi, New York; Print, Poster, Innovative, Integrated – Jeremy Craigen, ECD, DDB, UK; Interactive – Matias Palm-Jensen, creative president, Farfar, Stockholm, Sweden; Design – Garth Walker, founder/CD, Orange Juice Design, Durban, South Africa; Radio – Bob Winter, vp/CD, Leo Burnett, Chicago, IL, US.

Ariola received the Director's Guild of America (DGA) “Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials” award in 2006, and has been nominated for the honour four times. After graduating from New York's famed High School of Music & Art and directing music videos for major label groups such as Cake and Cypress Hill, he moved to commercial direction at Propaganda Films. Ariola, who joined MJZ in 2001, has directed award-winning commercials for ESPN, Budget, Volkswagen, XM Radio, Nike, HP, Levi's and others.

• The online entry system for the 2008 Clio Awards is open at www.clioawards.com. Final deadline for all work, including the first quarter of 2008, is Friday, 29 February 2008. Awards will be announced and presented at the Clio Festival, 14 – 17 May, in Miami's South Beach, Florida.
