Bringing smiles to SAFFAs all over the world
Johannesburg-based production company Virus Media has produced a viral mpeg commercial for homegrown community website SAReunited.com to distribute throughout its database and to stream on site. With a comedic slant and a typically South African flavour, this commercial is intended to bring South Africans all over the globe closer to home... and those at home closer to each other.
SAReunited.com was launched by three South Africans wishing to find their communities in South Africa and in foreign countries and to link up with old friends from childhood, school and university. The site allows people to register and search for past friends, and even family, within SA and further abroad. Seventy percent of the over 454 000 registered members are resident in South Africa.
Starring in the commercial are funny-guy actor Jose Domingos, who appeared recently on the polka.co.za advertising campaign and comedian and television presenter Joey Rasdien, although you may not recognise him in a grey wig and floral dress.
The commercial was produced entirely in Johannesburg and scripted and directed by SA comedian John Vlismas, who also runs whacky website Kungfone.com.
