#Cannes2025 awarding juries include 20 creatives from Africa

Two awards will be made in the following categories: The ABB Technology Journalist of the Year Award and the ABB Technology Journalism Development Award. This award will be made to a journalist under the age of 30 or with less than five years experience as a journalist to support the development of talented young technology journalists in South Africa.
The main prize for both winners will be a trip to the ABB International Technology Day in Sweden on 3 November 2004. The ABB Technology Journalist of the Year Award winner will receive a cash prize of $1000 and the ABB Technology Journalism Development Award winner will receive a cash prize of $500.
Entries must address a topic or issue (s) in the field of energy or electricity. Examples could include, but are not restricted to, issues such as: the role of electricity in development, the next energy source, the contribution of energy technologies to a cleaner environment, and the technology challenges of the energy sector.
Submissions can also address the topic of automation in industry, such as optimizing plant operations for global competitiveness, the role of automation in an emerging market, and key challenge(s) for automation technology in industry.
Entries may also discuss the key technology challenges that face South Africa.
An independent judging panel will assess entries based on journalistic excellence, insight into subject material, impact and relevance, insight into subject material and suitability of article for the specified media.
