Dispatch Supervisor

Our client, a well-established company within the print and packaging industry, is seeking a highly organised and proactive Dispatch Supervisor to lead their dispatch operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate people, optimise workflows, and ensure that every delivery leaves the floor on time and in perfect condition.

The ideal candidate is a confident communicator, strong planner, and decisive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead dispatch teams, managing schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring timely responses to delivery requirements.
  

• Track vehicle movements and communicate with drivers to ensure efficient and accurate deliveries.
  

• Implement effective routing strategies to optimise resources and reduce delivery times.
  

• Work closely with the production team to align dispatch priorities with production schedules.
  

• Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of dispatch staff using KPIs and structured feedback.
  

• Implement and maintain procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
  

• Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and transportation regulations.
  

• Monitor and analyse dispatch performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions where needed.
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in dispatch, logistics, or transportation coordination, ideally within the print, packaging, or manufacturing sector.
  

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for liaising with drivers, internal teams, and clients.
  

• Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  

• Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  

• In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
  

• Proficiency in dispatching software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  

• A strong customer service orientation, ensuring professionalism and responsiveness in all interactions.
  

• Adaptable and analytical, with a continuous improvement mindset.
