The experience is available at Tintswalo Safari and Tintswalo Manor House in the Manyeleti Game Reserve, as well as Tintswalo Scops Rest in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.
Departing after dinner, guests join an experienced guide on a night drive equipped with Pulsar thermal imaging binoculars linked to an iPad display. Rather than relying on conventional spotlights, the technology detects the heat signatures of animals, allowing guests to observe nocturnal wildlife while minimising disturbance to the natural environment.
Species that may be encountered include civets, genets, porcupines and other elusive nocturnal animals rarely seen during daylight hours.
Thermal technology reveals nocturnal wildlife
The thermal imaging technology provides a different way of observing wildlife after sunset, allowing guests to see animals in darkness through their heat signatures.
The experience combines the technology with guided wildlife encounters, giving visitors an opportunity to explore the bush after dark while learning more about its nocturnal inhabitants.
The experience concludes with a guided stargazing session beneath the African night sky.
Guests are introduced to prominent constellations, planets and celestial navigation, while discovering the stories and mythology associated with the southern skies.
