ChatGPT Ads in South Africa: How Criteo helps brands reach shoppers

HostAfrica today launched HCode, managed app hosting that takes developers from code to a live app in South Africa, with no servers to set up or look after.
Customers connect a GitHub repository or upload a .zip file. HCode detects the framework, builds the app and puts it live with HTTPS. Every push to GitHub deploys it again.
HCode is built for the developers, agencies and SaaS teams now shipping faster than ever with AI. They can write an app in an afternoon, then hit the old wall: hosting that runs offshore, bills in dollars and keeps the database somewhere else.
Most developers ship on global platforms built for the US and Europe. For African teams, that often means apps running far from their users, databases bolted on through third parties, dollar invoices that swing with the exchange rate, and support in someone else's time zone.
HCode is built on Zanode, the South African app hosting platform HostAfrica acquired in May 2026. Zanode was designed as the deployment backbone for AI-assisted development, where code changes land many times a day. HostAfrica has now brought it onto its own infrastructure, client area and support team, and relaunched it as HCode.
It caps a year of AI-first moves:
“AI has changed who can build software, and how fast,” said Michael Osterloh, CEO of HostAfrica. “An idea can become a working app in an afternoon. What still slows African builders down is everything after the code: offshore servers, dollar invoices and a database on another continent.”
“HCode removes that. Your AI writes the code, HCode puts it live in South Africa, and you pay in your own currency. At the ZATech meet-up, people in the room suggested apps and watched them go live on HCode. That is the new normal, and we want Africa building at the front of it, not waiting for it to arrive.”
HCode is available now. Plans start at R50 a month in South Africa ($3.05 internationally), priced in the customer's own currency, with up to 10% off annual billing. Every plan includes managed PostgreSQL, custom domains and SSL.
| Plan | Price (South Africa) | Projects | Databases | RAM |
| Solo | R50/mo | 3 | 1 | 1 GB |
| Developer | R200/mo | 5 | 3 | 4 GB |
| Pro | R499/mo | 10 | 5 | 8 GB |
| Team | R999/seat/mo | 20 | 20 | 16 GB |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Customers order from the HCode page or the HostAfrica client area, then manage apps, databases and domains in the HCode dashboard.
