Let's talk about facts, baby Lately we seem to be oscillating between Sunday newspapers Sunday Times and City Press being the news, not just reporting on the news. So this week, we're back to good ol' Sunday Times and a controversial story alleging that there's something not kosher about a communications tender awarded to TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris by the DA-run provincial government of the Western Cape. Except there seems to be something not quite kosher about the facts of the story itself. *facepalm* Meanwhile, Avusa's public editor Joe Latakgomo has commented on the Ferial Haffajee/Eric Miyeni saga (Haffajee, in the meantime, has decided not to sue Miyeni and will instead lay a complaint with the Human Rights Commission or public protector). We're also through the coldest part of winter (although, yes, it has been snowing in Johannesburg today!), but Biz Takeouts remains hot! The latest Biz Takeouts podcast from the Bizcommunity.com/Chai FM Marketing & Media radio show takes a look at creating trends and leadership in advertising, from Apple to the world-acclaimed Zimbabwean campaign. [Herman Manson: @marklives] M&C Saatchi Abel is buzzing. The agency, which launched in early 2010 with no clients signed up front but a powerful management team, has grown to more than 63 staffers working with 29 client organisations, just won the Geely account and recently took another floor in the block where it's headquartered. [Andy Rice] LeadSA has just celebrated its first birthday, and so one might be forgiven for expecting it still to be finding its feet. But, even with just a solitary candle on its birthday cake, LeadSA is no helplessly dependent infant. But does all this conspicuous and noisy activity mean that LeadSA has acquired the status of a true brand, as opposed to an embryonic vehicle for promoting an array of good deeds? Read more >>
