Show profile Hide profileI have been studying at the University of Cape Town four the past 4 years. I completed my Undergraduate Bachelor of Social Science Degree in 2010 and my Honours degree in Psychology in 2011. My broad and general nature of my Undergraduate degree has allowed me to gain knowledge and equipped me with many invaluable skills that I am able to apply in most fields.
My academic career demanded a high level of accuracy in academic writing, mastering statistics and presentations and the completion of a thesis during my Honours year. My thesis focused on collecting normative data on two theory of mind tests in a South African context. Since the theory of mind literature shows inconclusive evidence and there is a lack of neuropsychological normative data, particularly in a South African context, I thought it would be a necessary and interesting topic to explore.
The exposure to all the above-mentioned has made me more analytical, responsible and has allowed me to develop a sharp eye for attention to detail and an interest for research.
Other than the knowledge that I have gained during my academic career I developed an excellent work ethic, which made me a disciplined person to develop the important skill of critical thinking. This skill is important in any field and I believe it encourages the development of new ideas, self-opinion and also the ability to take initiative in any situation.
Throughout my academic career I met and was exposed to a variety of different people of all levels, cultures and persuasions, which has helped me in becoming an open-minded person. I am driven and it is my passion to learn more about people. I also feel that I have a firm and broad knowledge on psychology, as I chose a wide variety of psychology courses during both my undergraduate and Honours degree in Psychology, which I successfully passed with high marks.
I am currently completing a Social Research Internship which has given me the opportunity to apply the skills I have acquired at university and has also exposed me to working on a variety of different social development projects.
