Jacaranda 94.2 spreads some Christmas cheer
South Africa's largest independent radio station Jacaranda 94.2 brings Carols by Candlelight festivities to its fans while also packing some joy into the Christmas stockings of the underprivileged.
Jacaranda 94.2 will once again host Carols by Candlelight at Supersport Park on the 6th of December with partner Spar and at Montecasino on 13th December with partner ABSA. A radio station known for incredible interactive events, this year's line-up includes performers such as Kurt Darren, Eden, Loyiso, Craig Hinds and the Soweto Gospel Choir.
"We've decided to introduce the theme 'Toy Story' into this year's Carols by Candlelight," says Alan Khan CEO of Jacaranda 94.2 "Attendees are encouraged to bring through new toys for our nominated charities."
This year all proceeds and toys collected will be donated to NOAH, a charity that provides for AIDS orphans, and the Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre which cares for over 73 205 patients who do not have access to medical care.
"Delivering toys to needy kids is a good gesture in its own right," says Khan, "But this year we have decided to look after the charities nominated by facilitating a variety of projects throughout 2008. As the official radio partner, we are in the best position to leverage the charity drive through our extensive reach in four provinces."
