As part of the One&Only Reaching for Young Stars competition, the 11 selected competitors participated in a cook-off at the Capsicum Culinary Studio in Cape Town on 19 September 2017.
To mark 14 years since its unveiling, the Cape Town International Convention Centre made a donation of R70,000 to its five Western Cape-based community partners; Ikhaya le Themba, Abalimi Bezekhaya, the Foundation for Alcohol Related Research, Journey of Enrichment, and Mothers Unite.
On 26 May 2017, the 18th Kruger National Park Achievement Awards took place in the park, at Skukuza, which saw finalists selected based on a set of strict assessment criteria. The awards were judged on overall performance, which included implementation of various systems, financial performance and management, guest complaints and compliments, compliance to policies and general neatness of the facility.

The 2017 Cape Legends & Artisan Spirits Inter Hotel Challenge once again celebrated the country's leading 29 hotels with support from Distell; the Cape Town leg of the event was held at the Vineyard Hotel on 29 March. The other legs of the event were held at the Palace at the Lost City in Sun City, the Hartford House in Midlands, KwaZulu-Natal and NH The Lord Charles in the Cape Winelands.
The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show has relaunched its food offering under the guidance of celebrity chef, Arnold Tanzer. It includes a delicious four-course meal, which includes starters, soup from the campfire, a braai (barbeque) buffet, Zimbabwean delicacies like mopane worms, warthog steak and Zambezi bream, as well as vegetarian dishes and desserts.
